A group of about 25 specialists from EBU Members have been visiting Eurosport in Paris on Thursday this week. The focus of the visit was to share the experiences of Eurosport during its migration towards HDTV. In 2008 Eurosport has introduced, very successfully, HDTV as a simulcast SD/HD service with mulitchannel sound.

The service relies on a fully file-based (tapeless) environment, including digital archives. The visit included dedicated thematic presentations from Eurosport experts and very active discussions between the presenters and EBU Members. Subsequently the paticipants explored the high-tech Eurosport facilities in small groups. This event provided a unique opportunity for the European Broadcasting Union's Members to learn and share experiences for migrating towards HDTV.
