Acquisition metadata

Data acquisition is the process of sampling signals that measure real world physical conditions and converting the resulting samples into digital numeric values that can be manipulated by a computer. To facilitate the exchange between different TV production platforms, it is necessary for broadcasters to acquire metadata when they receive the data.

How can EBU T&I help?

Our Project Group on Acquisition Metadata helps Members to integrate their data during acquisition. We do so by developing specifications to improve interoperability for descriptive and technical metadata (i.e. camera metadata). By collecting your requirements, we are able to identify and define a common core set of metadata that can be used in file-based production and FIMS. We also provide a platform for sharing best practice and give guidance for implementation.
