Hybrid media devices that can deliver audio, video and interactive content over both broadcast and broadband offer an exciting opportunity for broadcasters and media providers to enhance their audience experience with interactive personalized services. However, device manufacturers and content providers are missing a standard way for a user to associate a device with an online account.
How can EBU T&I help?
Our Project Group on Cross-platform Authentication provides Members with an open standard authentication protocol for IP-connected media devices. This protocol provides a common basis between device manufacturers and content providers to offer personalized services and can be implemented by a range of IP-connected media devices (taking into account display capabilities and input methods). Through this international and industry wide collaboration, we continue to develop this solution to simplify the user experience to access multiple services across different platforms.
How does that work?
