For Public Service Media access services such as subtitling are very important. The formats used for its creation and distribution are evolving and converging around IMSC.
Although Public Service Media have a good track record in producing subtitles, the underlying technology was never created to meet today's demands. Some of it even is not openly standardised. By defining state-of-the-art formats for subtitling, the EBU helps its Members to adapt their subtitling workflows to the latest needs.
