More and more television studios use intercom systems using IP networks. However no interoperability solutions exist nowadays. This leads to problems on events with other partners or in the context of exchanges and a solution must be found. |
Using ACIP
This group is a continuation of the work initiated by N/ACIP (Audio Contribution over IP) that defined a common framework to achieve interoperability between Audio over IP contribution equipment (mainly for radio contribution). N/IIIP will focus on Intercom issues as used in Television (and Radio) environments by defining user requirements and a common framework with manufacturers. This is also an opportunity for the participants to exchange experiences on using IP networks for intercom applications.
Objectives
1. Specify a minimum interoperability document, based on a subset of the programme quality Audio Contribution over IP document TECH 3326. The primary target should be only voice grade audio interoperability between previously incompatible systems. Advanced control features, such as display information etc., should be left out.
2. After preliminary definitions in first meetings by EBU-members, manufacturers should be invited to meetings to refine the draft specification. In parallel, the manufacturer’s awareness of the work can be established through a reflector and a wiki.
3. Verification of the document by real world interoperability test.
