The EBU Project Group WMT (Web Media Technology) met on 6 and 7 October at the EBU headquarters and discussed various open issues related to the Hybrid Broadcast Broadband television (HBB) developments, the media distribution requirements over the internet and the associated content security issues as well as the progress in a range of web technology developments (such as HTML 5).
HbbTV
The group learnt that the industry grouping known as HbbTV has almost completed the first version of its HBB technical specification which will be submitted for standardisation in ETSI in due course. WMT has contributed comments to this specification and continues to work actively with a number of the HBB platforms.
