This Group addresses the content storage needs of EBU Member broadcasters. |
Background
Media content storage is a fundamental technology in broadcast operations. In the transition from "tape to file", EBU Members need reliable information about on-line and off-line storage in linear and non-linear form and about the potential of new storage solutions for huge amounts of large media files.
Objectives
-Analyzing operational practices of Members to develop a set of common key requirements for short-term (e.g. Production, Playout, Nearline) and preservation (e.g. Archive)
-Establish a platform for communication with the industry, to discuss requirements and implementation
-Develop guidelines on how to make appropriate technology choices
- Participation of non-members
In order to represent and protect the interests of its Members, the EBU's Technical Project Groups may be restricted to Members only, or they may be open to relevant non-EBU entities (non-members).
In Future Storage Systems, while much of the work work is conducted by Members, we wish to maintain a continuous dialogue with the manufacturers and the experts in the Media Storage domain.
We invite non-members who can contribute to this discussion to request to join the group.
